In 2015 Pelican took on their most ambitious project yet, the Australian premiere of the non-professional production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Written by Ian Fleming, the musical is a theatrical feast of dancing, singing, imagination and frivolity.
A genuine 1923 Model T Ford was restored for the role of Chitty. She flew across the stage. The show opened to strong reviews and a successful season.
Music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, by special arrangement with Sony/ATV Publishing. Adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams, based on the MGM motion picture. Licensed script adapted by Ray Roderick, by arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd, exclusive agent for Music Theatre International (NY).
